In 2020, Chris Edwards left his corporate career at Deloitte and took an unexpected leap into the flooring industry, purchasing a store in Steamboat Springs with little experience in the trade. He learned the business from the ground up and grew the operation into the largest flooring company in the market, completing more than 1,500 projects along the way.
But the biggest lesson wasn’t about flooring. It was about hospitality. Chris saw an opportunity to bring better communication, greater transparency, and a genuinely customer-first experience to an industry where those things weren’t always expected.
After selling the business, Chris returned to his hometown of Niwot to be closer to family. There, he reconnected with Randi Pilon, a longtime colleague from their years together at Zayo Group. Together, they built Right This Way Flooring from the ground up around one shared belief:

Chris spent four years building and running Steamboat Springs’ largest flooring operation before launching Right This Way Flooring in Boulder. He grew up in Niwot and came back to build something better — a flooring company where the project manager is always on site, the guarantee covers the actual work, and someone with his name on it is accountable for every job.
Randi spent over a decade in leadership and product roles in telecom, including at Zayo Group, where she and Chris first worked together, before joining him to build RTW in 2025. She brought a customer experience mindset this industry rarely sees. She leads sales, partnerships, and every client interaction from first contact to signed proposal, and holds CFI certifications in carpet, laminate, and LVP.

The team of Juan and Margarito did an excellent job installing the living room and hallway carpeting. This included matching up the new carpet with the old carpet in the entryway of the three bedrooms. Flawless. They also installed new laminate flooring on the adjacent kitchen which included doing some extra work to match up the bottom trim of the newly painted cupboards. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was done well including moving all the debris. They were efficient and very easy to work with providing pictures and videos as they went along. We highly recommend this business.
